Civil services is one of the most prestigious career options among the youth in Manipur. The Civil Services selection is one of the most challenging exams in India. Career opportunities exist in civil service in a variety of areas, such as law enforcement, administrative services, foreign affairs, accounting and public affairs. 

The Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) conducts the civil services exam for the recruitment of Administrative officers at various state govt. departments. The exam is conducted in two phases - a preliminary examination consisting of two objective-type papers (General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper II ), and a main examination consisting of nine papers of conventional (essay) type, followed by a personality test (interview) to judge the knowledge and administrative competency of the candidate.
